Dr. Trevor Norris, a Northeast Ohio native and former Division I athlete at the University of Akron, understands athletic training firsthand. Dr. Daniel Bullard, who competed in cross country and track at North Olmsted High School and Kent State University, completed his surgical training at St. Vincent Charity Medical Center. Both are board-certified surgeons with a primary focus on sports medicine, bringing their athletic experience to care for Lorain County’s active population.

FAQs

Stress fractures are characterized by pinpoint tenderness over a bone and pain that worsens with activity but improves with rest. Unlike soft tissue injuries, stress fracture pain escalates with prolonged training. Digital X-rays at our Avon, Elyria, or Lorain offices can usually detect most stress fractures during your first visit, with an MRI available if X-ray results are unclear.

Biomechanical gait analysis at Integrity Foot and Ankle Associates assesses your foot’s striking, pronation, and propulsion during running. It identifies patterns that cause abnormal stress on tissues. Paired with custom orthotics for your running shoes and targeted strengthening recommendations, gait analysis helps prevent recurring running injuries.

Turf toe is caused by hyperextension of the big toe joint on hard surfaces. Mild cases can be treated with taping, stiff footwear, and activity modification for 2 to 4 weeks. Severe cases may need immobilization or surgery. Early diagnosis is essential, as returning to play too soon can lead to chronic joint instability.

A minor Grade I ankle sprain with stability and minimal swelling may permit modified activity within a few days with taping or bracing. However, many who think their sprain is minor have not had it assessed, and it may actually be a Grade II partial tear. Playing through an undiagnosed moderate sprain can lead to chronic ankle instability, potentially requiring surgery.
